If I could give this book ten stars I would. Yes I have Rosetta Stone, all 5 levels, and I was still struggling. I bought two beginner books from Amazon, this one and another. The other book on chapter one had 67 words to learn, this book chapter one had one word to learn. Guess which book I started with? You start out with one word a chapter and then go into two words a chapter. Each chapter goes through a concept and then has 10 sentences to work through. There are 177 lessons in all. Every chapter continues refreshing you in the exercises on what you have covered in the past. By the end of the book you have covered gerunds, gustar, encantar, multiple verbs ending in -ar and -er, adjectives, thanking someone, subject pronouns, indirect object pronouns, possessive pronouns, prepositional pronouns, questions, personal `a', expressing purpose, being hungry, and many, many rules. The explanations of why you are doing something are excellent, it is almost impossible not to understand what they are saying. In lesson one you learn to say and write "the boy" and at the end of the book you are able to easily say and write "She is not able to go to the park because she is having lunch with her family right now." This book MAKES SPANISH SIMPLE, you can't fail using this text. I can't tell you how much confidence I now have to go further with my studies. Thank you William and Antonio for taking the time to write a text that will keep a beginner from giving up and walking away. I am an adult, it would work for all ages, it is such an easy format to understand. There are days when I chose to do multiple chapters, you can choose your own pace. A SLAM DUNK for success. I think this book does a pretty poor job of teaching spanish in any meaningful or useful way.the first 3 "lessons" are "el" "nino" and "la" in that order. and the rest of the book follows suit. first, gender and articles can be covered in one lesson. i didnt need el and la split up into two lessons even when i was first learning spanish. putting a noun between them just to give an example? not a fan.i've had a few years spanish and even though im incredibly rusty this seems like a book for gradeschool children, not for adults serious about learning a language. just my opinion.
